ASD  ASHFORD  SUMMER  FAIR  2022!

It's been 3 years since our last summer fair back in 2019 thanks to the Covid pandemic. We are beyond excited to be able to have it back again this year, in its usual home at the amazing, The Beaver Inn pub.
The Beaver Inn has supported us for as long as we have been going, they have had tough times over Covid, like a lot of hospitality, The Beaver is very special to us they believe in the power of community like us, local business, local support, helping local people!

ASD Ashford isn't funded, we have always fundraised to continue the work we do in Ashford with local families, so much of what we do goes unseen as we work directly with families, but that work includes, support pre and post diagnosis, mental health support, home visits, support at meetings, help with forms, EHCP process, tribunals, phone support outside of the 9 to 5 Mon - Fri as for many of our families concerns don't always fit around that. Sadly, of late with the cost of living crisis hitting hard we have supported families with food and necessities, Ashford has great food banks and community fridges, but this isn't always of help when you have a child who will ONLY eat a certain brand of food. So we help, we helped with Christmas food as well last year for a number of our families, as well as speaking to many on Christmas Day who were on their own.

So we would love your support! Come along if you can, share the event if you can't to help advertise the event, this also helps double fold as it means new families who may need us find us too.

Raffle prize donations are very welcomed and be dropped off directly to The Beaver Inn, TN23 7SP

We look forward to seeing some of you on the 27th August, dust off those Hawaiian shirts!

Lots of Love ASD Ashford xx

Introducing our Patron - Austin Hughes

Austin is a former actor/singer who in his spare time would volunteer and
work in and around many disabilities. Not happy with some of what he saw, Austin  developed his own workshops.
His interest in autism grew from a friend that was on the ‘spectrum’. He
learned how to build strong bonds and understanding by putting himself in the shoes of the person he’s working with – seeing life from their point of view.

After suffering a serious head/brain injury in 2007 Austin was left with his
own disabilities which brought about a change in his career. Working within autism became his main focus as he trained and enjoyed working for the NAS.
He was Senior Behavioural Support and Training Officer for
Anna Kennedy Online, before becoming Community Sports Manager for The West Ham Foundation. www.whufc.com/news/articles/2018/january/03-january/celebrating-another-fantastic-year-work-community

Austin has been delivering training with ASD Ashford over the last 4 years nd has helped many of our members. He has always been hugely supportive of what we do as group, and it's fair to say he has been taken to the hearts of our families.
It was with great pleasure that in February 2014, he came on board as our Patron.
